Practical
help
Psychologists report that
our brains are capable of storing away an infinite
number of details and memories. The pornographic
images and fantasies that we pour into our brains are
never completely erased. These stored images can be
replayed in our thoughts at any time they tend
to come up most when were not expecting it.
Thats not all. Our view
and perspective on life becomes tainted and twisted by
the fantasy life of porn use and addiction. It damages
our relationships with others, drains us of creative
energy and erodes our standards for personal
character. You may experience other damaging effects
in your own case.
While all of this is true, there
is hope! By Gods grace, our minds can be renewed
even though we cant erase the images from our
brains. Our perspective on life can be brought back in
line with reality. Since our source of truth is
Gods Word, it makes sense for us to meditate on
it. We can ask that the Spirit of God do a cleansing
work in us, filling our minds (and our brains) with
truth and images of those things which are pure and
acceptable to the Lord.
In the process of building a
strategy for ongoing sexual purity, Gods Word
plays an integral role in the renewal project of our
minds. Take some time in His Word today.
