Keywords: “meditate” “memorize” “Scripture”
Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

This is the fifth of a twelve-part series designed to help you build a strategy for ongoing sexual purity. The first six parts are being posted this month, and the last six in late May.

Passage: Psalm 119:11*

Thy word I have treasured in my heart, That I may not sin against Thee.

Questions

1. What did the writer do with God’s word?

2. What does this say about its value to him?

3. What did this mean for him in his personal battle against sin?

Practical help

The importance of God’s word in any strategy against personal struggles with sin cannot be overstated. Nothing will do more to strengthen us in the face of sexual temptation than to have God’s word committed to memory through meditation, memorization and personal application.

Here are a few references for passages of Scripture that are particularly helpful against porn use and sexual temptation. See Psalm 119:9-11, Proverbs 5, Proverbs 6:20-35, Romans 6, 1 Corinthians 6:12-20, Ephesians 5:3-12, and 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8.

Action Point 5: Make a lifelong project of studying, memorizing, meditating on and applying Scriptures which speak to porn and other kinds of sexual temptation.

More tomorrow.
