Selected Passages:
Isaiah 9:2*
The people who walk in darkness will see a great light; those who live in a dark land, the light will shine on them.
John 8:12*
I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.
John 12:46*
I have come as light into the world, that everyone who believes in Me may not remain in darkness.
Questions
1. Each of these verses has, as its main focus, the Person and the work of Jesus Christ. What is the common theme of all of these verses?
2. What promise do all of these verses hold out for the one who follows (i.e. — "believes in") Jesus?
Practical help
The Bible teaches that people (like you and me) are groping around in the dark, searching for the light switch, having lost our moral bearings, and are on a crash course with the judgment of God because of our sin.
We need Someone to turn on the light so that we will know where to go, how to live, how to find deliverance — or we are hopelessly — and forever — lost.
Two thousand years ago, God flipped the switch and flooded the world with Light, the light of His Son, Jesus. The world into which He shined chose to close its eyes. Those living at the time of Jesus shielded their eyes from the light and put Him to death.
However, as the saying goes, "You can’t keep a good man down." There never was a Man as good as Jesus, the God/Man. He arose from the dead and continues to shine, to this day.
Now, He invites everyone who is reading these words to come to the Light. He wants YOU to open your eyes to see Him as the Lord who alone can save you from the penalty of sin (Hell) and the power of sin (break those chains!).
We at eXXit want each of our readers to know the freedom that comes from knowing the Light, walking in the Light, and following the Light. Put your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ today! (For a fuller explanation of how to become a Christian, click here.)
