Practical help
One of the interesting things about Jesus is that he seems to view
sin differently than many modern-day Christians. Some believers wouldn't be caught dead
dining with prostitutes and swindlers -- "We need to avoid every appearance of
evil," they opine -- while Jesus settles down to five-course dinners with the
riffraff. The reason: Mark 2:17.
All of this hits much closer to home when we consider our own
shortcomings, say, addiction to pornography. We think Jesus will respond like many
Christians -- with disdain and distance. But true to form, Jesus draws CLOSER to the sick.
Remember that the next time you screw up. Jesus hasn't dumped you
and lit out for the hills. He's inviting you over for dinner.
