Practical help

A Christian’s choice to view pornography is unreasonable.

Imagine that Bill Gates adopted a son, who decided to live on the streets, rather than in Dad’s palatial estate. That, too, would be unreasonable -- and for the same reason. That son was offered all the wealth and honor and privilege imaginable, yet chose poverty and filth and dishonor.

The Christian should shun porn for exactly the same reason that the son of a billionaire should shun the streets: The Christian is made for something better. (Of course, EVERYONE is made for something better than life on the streets, and in a perfect world there would be no poorly housed people!).

If you are a Christian,

  • choosing porn doesn’t reflect who and what you are;
  • choosing porn is foolish and demeaning;
  • choosing porn denies the reality of your sonship/daughtership to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords;
  • choosing porn insults the One who has graced you with forgiveness and relationship with Himself.
    • As noted theologian C.S. Lewis once wrote, "We are half-hearted creatures, fooling around with drink and sex and ambition, when infinite joy is offered us. Like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased."

    Don’t be so easily pleased. Do away with porn, and live like the Son or Daughter of the King you are.
