Welcome
to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand
strong in the face of sexual temptation.
The
following is one of 42 studies on the "armor of God"
as it relates to resisting Web porn. Some of the
studies will examine Ephesians chapter six, which is
famous for the armor theme. Some of the other studies,
however, will examine how the armor pieces are
discussed elsewhere in Scripture. All 42 studies are
listed in the three-minute
study index
for the dates April 1 through May 12, 1999. Feel free
to study and/or download the entire set.
We
welcome your feedback to this thematic approach in the

studies.
Passage:
Luke 18:1-5*
1. Then Jesus told his
disciples a parable to show them that they should
always pray and not give up.
2. He said: "In a certain town
there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared
about men.
3. And there was a widow in that
town who kept coming to him with the plea, 'Grant me
justice against my adversary.'
4. "For some time he refused.
But finally he said to himself, 'Even though I don't
fear God or care about men,
5. yet because this widow keeps
bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so
that she won't eventually wear me out with her
coming!'
Questions
1. How do the roles in
this parable widow = us and judge = God
relate to us?
2. In what way could this
parable help us avoid pornography?
Practical
help
One of the interesting
things about Luke 18:1-5 is its depiction of God. He
is powerful like the unjust judge, but He also cares
about us all the more reason to believe that He
will help us when we pray for victory over
pornography.
To act off this parables
central message that we should always
pray and not give up take up its
challenge to pray every day about your struggle.
Perhaps you can put some coded reminder on a Post-It
note and stick it to your monitor or pray with a
friend over the phone every day.
In any case, start using the
power of prayer today to help you overcome Web porn.
And never give up.
