Passage: Proverbs 9:1-6* 1. Wisdom has built her house; she has hewn out its seven pillars. 2. She has prepared her meat and mixed her wine; she has also set her table. 3. She has sent out her maids, and she calls from the highest point of the city. 4. "Let all who are simple come in here!" she says to those who lack judgment. 5. "Come, eat my food and drink the wine I have mixed. 6. Leave your simple ways and you will live; walk in the way of understanding. Question Are meat and wine mental or physical pleasures (see verse 2 above)?   Practical help Lest you think wisdom is good only for mental stimulation, verse 2 above sets the record straight. Wisdom furnishes physical excitement as well. And not cheap, quick thrills, either. As in verse 2, wisdom's meat is prepared — well dressed and seasoned — and its wine mixed — refined from the choicest grapes. Tasty, memorable stuff. This is good news for porn strugglers who think changing the mental menu is the only way out of smut. True, clean thoughts help, but there's more to resisting smut than cleansing brain waves. Look for physical and mental alternatives. Start at wisdom's table: good food and drink.
