Passage: Proverbs 12:1-3* 1. Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid. 2. A good man obtains favor from the LORD, but the LORD condemns a crafty man. 3. A man cannot be established through wickedness, but the righteous cannot be uprooted. Questions In verse 1 above, what is the connection between knowledge and discipline? Between stupidity and hatred of correction?   Practical help Many porn strugglers know it takes discipline to stay away from Web smut. So why do some of us keep going back? Verse 1 above suggests two reasons: not enough love, too much hate. Namely, not enough love for common sense, and too much hate when Scripture or friends call us on it. Okay, call this passage hard-nosed. But if it describes your situation, consider: God can help you seek and savor common sense. You can start the ball rolling by praying to him. Admit you need his help. Other folks have fallen to porn, sought help from God, and begun the process of eliminating smut from their lives. Few, if any, of these "other folks" have found the process easy. Many, however, will tell you that God's steadfast help along the way has been a sweeter reward than any eventual victory over porn. One more thing.
