1. After viewing pornography, how does your mind function? Do you think more clearly about problems in your life, or do you find it more difficult to concentrate? Why do you think this is?

 

2. When you have a porn problem, how often is your mind thinking about returning to viewing sexual images?

 

Practical help

If God does not exist, then choices about how we spend our time and what we do are relative and personal. However, there is adequate evidence in nature and in the unexplainable improvement in enough people’s lives to show that He in fact does exist as the Bible declares. Most people who claim not to believe in God are actually running from Him and know deep inside themselves of His existence. They accurately know that if they were to admit He exists, they would have to alter their lives radically and begin to listen to His instructions. That’s the real rub. We don’t want to give up control.

Porn addiction proves how little "self"-control we actually have. Perhaps it is a good thing to discover that we are unhealthy so we will seek a true cure before we die. And although there may be many "cures" for addiction, there is only one cure for death and that is to trust the way of escape God has designed for us. For more information about this, click here.

For the next few days, we will be thinking about our minds. It is important that we use our minds and our thinking processes in our understanding of God and of ourselves. Emotions and sexual drives can propel us in directions our minds would tell us are unwise. Hopefully by gaining a greater appreciation for our own God-given capacity to think clearly, and about things that affect our thinking, we will be able to see a way out of our addictions.
