5. [We are] destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and [we are] taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ,

Questions

1. How often do you pray?

2. When you pray, what do you generally pray for?

3. What do you think God does with self-centered prayer?

Practical help

A self-centered prayer is better than a self-centered thought because it shifts the focus to the One greater than your ego and your drive. Probably the best response for a self-centered thought is to give it to God. When we do this it’s called confession. Confession is simply agreeing with God that you have made a mistake.

By quickly taking every thought captive and giving it to God, you weaken the grip of temptation before it even puts a headlock on you. Don’t buy into the idea that every thought you have is put there by you. There is one who seeks to destroy you and he will use whatever means he can to do the job, porn is just one of his tricks.
