Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

Passage: Genesis 5:1*

... When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God.

Questions

1. How are we made in the likeness of God?

2. How can this understanding help us resist temptation?

Practical help

Word has it that heaven employs French cooks, German engineers and Italian lovers. Of course, hell fields English cooks, French engineers and German lovers. The implication: Creations tend to take on the attributes of creators.

The same rule of thumb applies to humankind. Genesis 5:1 reminds us that we are made in the image of God. Obviously, we don't share his perfect traits, such as omnipotence, omniscience and omnipresence. People partake of the divine nature in a different way; like God, we are free moral agents, able to make choices and face the consequences.

As a result, when we give into the temptation of pornography, we make a god-like decision. But such a choice distorts the moral image that God wants us to reflect. Decide today to choose a course with pornography -- but make it the right one.
