Do you believe that God has the power to remove pornography from your life?
Practical help
Feelings of depression come most often when we feel helpless to change our circumstances. We believe that we don’t have what it takes and in some way time is being wasted.
Faith counters this in that we begin to see a pathway out and hope for recovery rises in our hearts. By focusing on God — His power, His goodness and His love, we begin to believe that something (actually someone) is becoming operative on our behalf and that what He will do will amaze us.
Although it isn’t the size of our faith that matters (since a mustard seed amount can do wonders) it is always the object of our faith that does. A false picture of God produces a poorly formed faith. Our simple early trusting faith can be more pure than later as problems, hardships and disappointments creep in.
But it need not be the case. As our understanding increases, there is the opportunity to become more and more in awe of God’s wonder. Herein lies the choice of faith, the will to persist and hold on, even as the world seems to be spinning out of control. For in the end, God is able to manage the spin of any world and any life.
