Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

Passage: Luke 14:27*

"Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple."

Questions

1. Can Jesus possibly want us to die on a cross like Him?

2. How can carrying a cross help you face temptation?

Practical help

We intend no offense to anyone who suffers from strabismus. (The technical name for an eye muscle disorder resulting in a cross-eyed appearance.)

Try this little experiment. Force your eyes into a cross-eyed position by making them both look at the tip of your nose. Notice what happens to the image that's on you computer monitor. It's not very appealing because you can't really make sense of what's being displayed. Your focus has been altered.

This may seem like a child's game, but the point made is a vivid illustration of what can happen if you embrace the significance of the cross of Jesus Christ. Jesus died a sacrificial, tortuous and humiliating death on a cross for you and He did it willingly! (If you weren't aware of this, click here to find out more.)

Embracing the cross of Jesus is very different from knowing about it or even accepting it. It's about a willingness to choose it as your focal point. It's about seeing everything in its context. It's about facing that temptation to surf to a porn site and choosing instead to look cross-eyed.
