Passage: Psalm 141:5*

Let a righteous man strike me -- it is a kindness; let him rebuke me -- it is oil on my head. My head will not refuse it.

Questions

1. What does this verse mean?

2. How can its message help us avoid pornography?

Practical help

One lesson from the Enron debacle seems clear: lack of accountability. The energy trader's auditor, Arthur Andersen, ignored some of Enron's questionable business practices. One Anderson staffer even admits shredding documents.

Likewise, Christians need accountability on pornography. Deep convictions and smart strategies can take us a long way. Yet Enron had a code of ethics. What the company lacked was a committed accountant. That's what we need.

Ask another Christian to hold you accountable for your behavior with pornography. If he rebukes you when you slip, count it as a blessing. As Psalm 141:5 says, "It is a kindness." Accept the correction and walk on in righteousness.
