Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

Passage: Ecclesiastes 10:18*

If a man is lazy, the rafters sag; if his hands are idle, the house leaks.

Questions

1. Would you consider yourself prepared to withstand storms of temptation?

2. Can a person's character benefit from preventive maintenance?

Practical help

Do you sometimes sit perplexed and wonder how on earth you fell prey to that temptation when you knew it was coming?

Well, it's not a lot different than when you find out you need a valve job on your car's engine because you didn't think to change the oil -- for two or three years! If you neglect to use preventive maintenance on a car it's no longer equipped to handle the heat and friction it must encounter in day to day operation.

Today's passage is one of Soloman's proverbs that has to be listed in the no-brainer column -- If you get lazy about protection you're going to lose. Like the roof on your house or the engine in your car your moral character is not "maintenance free." It requires routine preventive maintenance to withstand the storms of temptation.

Since you're here reading a Bible study you're already taking a step toward preventive maintenance. The more you seek insights from God's word the more your moral character is tuned-up and ready for that next temptation.

Today (or tonight) make yourself a list of where you think your moral character is sagging and then work on your own personal preventive maintenance routine. If you think your routine can help others then consider emailing it to us at eXXit and we'll evaluate it for possible publishing. You can email us at helpexxit@exxit.org.
