Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

Passage: 2 Corinthians 4:18*

... For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Questions

1. What counts as "seen" and "unseen" in your life?

2. How can you focus more on the former and less on the latter?

Practical help

Try this quick time trial: Calculate how much time you spend a day contemplating God. Now estimate how much time you allocate each day to material things.

If you're like most people, the second number far exceeds the first. And the apostle Paul thinks that's a problem. In 2 Corinthians 4:18, he links the unseen to the eternal. Sadly, we don't devote much attention to the eternal. Perhaps we feel uncomfortable with God because we spend so little time with him. Our flimsy mental furniture can't accommodate the divine.

What it can accommodate is pornography. How easily these images take up residence inside of us. The ease of that entrance should come as a warning.

Decide to tilt the balance of your unseen/seen ratio more in favor of the eternal. Start by spending a few extra minutes a day in prayer or Bible study. Eventually porn will seem like an intruder.
