This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: "In repentance and rest is
your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it.

When's the last time you had a prolonged, quiet and restful break?
Practical help
Everywhere you turn it seems you hear the same tune -- if you want to get your life back
in order you've just got to take the bull by the horns. You've got to be doing something,
anything, or nothing will happen. Get off the stick. Don't just sit there!
Today's passage has some striking advice for the "pro-activist" -- don't be!
Have you ever considered that activity and business (even with wholesome things) leave
little time for true introspection, without which a repentant heart is hard to muster.
With an unrepentant heart, how equipped are you to resist porn's temptation?
It doesn't seem like hard labor, but working at a computer for hours on end takes an
exhausting toll. It becomes very easy to substitute browsing through a few porn sites
for the real break you need. The next time you're weary at the tube turn it off. Go to a
quiet place and just rest and reflect. Don't be like Isaiah's audience in this passage --
when it comes to rest and quiet, repentance and trust -- have some of it!
