Passage: Mark 7:32-35, 37*
32. And they brought to Him one who was deaf and
spoke with difficulty, and they entreated Him to lay His hand upon
him.
33. And He took him aside from the multitude by himself,
and put His fingers into his ears, and after spitting, He touched his
tongue with the saliva;
34. and looking up to heaven with a
deep sigh, He said to him, "Ephphatha!" that is, "Be opened!"
35. And his ears were opened, and the impediment of his tongue
was removed, and he began speaking plainly.
...
37. And
they were utterly astonished, saying, "He has done all things well; He
makes even the deaf to hear, and the dumb to
speak."
Questions
1. What did it take for Jesus to heal this
man?
2. What was the reaction of the people that were
watching Jesus heal this man?
3. How do they describe His works?
Practical help
The man's friends knew what they had to do. There
was only one person who could help and meet the need. Maybe they had
heard of other people being healed or maybe they had seen it
themselves. Who else but Jesus could open his ears?
After
seeing the man healed, the crowd standing by was amazed at the
miracle. The by standers recognized the quality of what Jesus had
done. "He has done all things well."
