I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory.
Questions
1. What does this verse mean?
2. How could its message help you battle pornography?
Practical help
Here's a theological brainteaser. David, the writer of this psalm, claims he has seen God
in the sanctuary. Problem is, the Bible says that God is spirit, and not visible to the
naked eye. What gives?
A clue, which bears upon our struggle against pornography, appears in the New Testament.
When the ascended Jesus knocks Saul off of his mount, he asks, "Why are you persecuting
me?" Jesus was crucified long before Saul came onto the scene. But Saul had persecuted
believers, and for Jesus, that was as good as hounding him.
Christians are the body of Christ, his physical representatives in the world. As a result,
one way to lean on God is to lean on them. Ask for the support of a fellow believer in
your battle against pornography. Perhaps God's "power and glory" will follow.
