Keywords: “avoid” “danger” “escape”
Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

This is the tenth of a twelve-part series designed to help you build a strategy for ongoing sexual purity. The first six parts were posted in late April. Click here to see the first study.

Passage: 1 Corinthians 10:13*

No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, that you may be able to endure it.

Questions

1. What does God make available to us when tempted?

2. Why is it wise to avoid temptation and take the escape route?

Practical help

The situations we put ourselves in greatly affect our vulnerability to sexual temptation. To do battle effectively in this area, we need to know the situations that are dangerous to us. Then we must avoid them when possible. If that isn’t possible, we need to plan ahead for spiritual warfare, and take whatever steps necessary to insure that we will stand strong against the temptation.

Her are some possible danger zones for you to consider. Add to the list from your own experience.

  1. Working late on the computer when everyone else is asleep.
  2. Watching too much TV.
  3. Traveling alone, including being alone in hotel rooms.
  4. Working alone with someone of the opposite sex.
  5. Getting so over-stressed that the ability to fight temptation is diminished.
Action Point 10: Know and avoid your danger zones.
