Practical help
While on the phone the other day with that Christian brother I
mentioned yesterday, I asked him if there were any passages in scripture that strengthened
him in his fight against temptations with pornography.
"I can tell you one passage that has caused me a lot of
frustration and trouble," was his reply.
"Please do," I responded.
"Well it’s Philippians 4:13."
"Why?" I asked.
"If it’s true that I can do all things through Christ who
gives me the strength, then why do I fail?"
Let me make it real clear to you that my friend is a man of
tremendous faith. His question is not one of questioning God’s goodness, but simply
desiring to understand how He works and what a passage like this means – especially
when it is brought to our minds after the harsh realization we have failed once again.
Think and pray about it and let’s look at it again tomorrow.
