Welcome
to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual
temptation.
Passages: Ephesians 5:15*
Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men, but as wise.
Questions
1. What are the two contrasting lifestyles Paul envisions a
Christian choosing in this verse?
2. Does it surprise you that it is possible that a Christian might
choose to live in an unwise way?
3. What do you think Paul has in mind when he mentions
wisdom? Philosophical insights into the mysteries of the universe? OR
practical insight into how one should conduct oneself?
Practical help
When Scripture commends the way of wisdom, it is always pointing us
to a skillful approach to living. Just as a wood-carver skillfully works a generic log
into the shape of a beautiful bird, so a Christian is to learn how to skillfully use the
tools God has given him (i.e. - the truths of Scripture) so that his life is shaped into a
beautiful representation of Jesus.
We have been told in Scripture to pursue purity (see these verses -
2 Corinthians 6:6; 1 Timothy 4:12; Titus 2:7) and to flee sexual immorality (1
Thessalonians 4:3).
Let me simply ask you this question. Having seen the necessity of
sexual purity, does it seem WISE to you to be visiting pornographic web sites? If you have
been logging on to eXXit for very long, you have read of a lot of reasons to not use
pornography. We want to keep on filling up the toolbox with reasons to NOT get involved
with porn. The tool for the day is this: Using pornography is UNWISE. It is STUPID. Using
it will only get in the way of becoming pure.
