Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

This is part five of five studies which consider how Psalm 19 offers insights into the full life in God.

Passage: Psalm 19:14*

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be pleasing in your sight,
O Lord , my Rock and my Redeemer.

Questions

1. How would you rate your life? Full? Half-full? Empty?

2. Does porn contribute anything to your life that you're truly thankful for?

Practical help

For all the destructive aspects of the porn experience there's one ironic positive that a porn struggler will surf away with — the gut conclusion that no matter how initially titillating or temporarily satisfying the experience seemed, it just wasn't "good" for me. Then there's the realization that continuing to use porn will never evoke a deep-down desire to say "Thank You" for meeting my needs.

The last verse of Psalm 19 is a stark contrast to the post-porn experience. Here we read the heart's response to the awesome truth expressed in this psalm — that God is "good," and He wants "good" for my life. It's a desire to say thanks with my words — testifying to God's grace in my life. It's a desire to say thanks with my mind — choosing to meditate on the "good" that comes from a life with God.

Consider what Jesus says in John 10:10*:

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Stop getting robbed by the porn experience.

Experience abundant life. Experience God.
