Passage:
Matthew 5:14-16*

15. Neither do people light a
lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on
its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the
house.
16. In the same way, let your
light shine before men, that they may see your good
deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

Practical
help
British author G.K.
Chesterton wrote that modern Christians hold their
confidence and doubts in reverse order. Instead of
doubting ourselves and trusting the creeds, we doubt
the creeds and trust ourselves.
Don't we still shy away from our
weaknesses, even around Christians? It's almost more
acceptable to confess a crisis of faith ("this Bible
passage disturbs me") than a shortage of character
("I'm hooked on Web porn"). Yet Scripture calls for
believers to throw light into dark corners, even if
that darkness appears in ourselves.
Make frank discussions of moral
failures part of your Christian group. If they resist,
find a new group.
