Passage: Psalm 107:1-9*

1. Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; for His lovingkindness is everlasting.

2. Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the adversary,

3. And gathered from the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south.

4. They wandered in the wilderness in a desert region; they did not find a way to an inhabited city.

5. They were hungry and thirsty; their soul fainted within them.

6. Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble; He delivered them out of their distresses.

7. He led them also by a straight way, to go to an inhabited city.

8. Let them give thanks to the LORD for His lovingkindness, and for His wonders to the sons of men!

9. For He has satisfied the thirsty soul, and the hungry soul He has filled with what is good.

Questions

1. Do you ever feel like your life is a 'desert region' (verse 4) devoid of anyone you can be honest with?

2. Could you possibly hunger for something that is truly good?

Practical help

Has a secret porn habit got you feeling like you can't really get close to anyone because you can't be honest with them?

Isolation can be the devil's trump card. As long as he can convince you that you're doomed to wander in the wilderness of a lonely life -- never finding a way to come near to someone who can help -- he's got you where he wants you.

Take heart from this passage in Psalm 107. The Lord sees your isolation. He knows the thirst and hunger of your soul and will give you what is good. He will lead you out of the isolation to a place inhabited with those willing to help. Why? Because He is good and His lovingkindness lasts forever!

Cry out to Him. He is listening.
