Passage: Psalm 107:10-16*

10. There were those who dwelt in darkness and in the shadow of death, prisoners in misery and chains,

11. Because they had rebelled against the words of God, and spurned the counsel of the Most High.

12. Therefore He humbled their heart with labor; they stumbled and there was none to help.

13. Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble; He saved them out of their distresses.

14. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their bands apart.

15. Let them give thanks to the LORD for His lovingkindness, and for His wonders to the sons of men!

16. For He has shattered gates of bronze, and cut bars of iron asunder.

Questions

1. Have you ever rejected really good advice?

2. Has anyone (even God, through  the Bible) advised you to steer clear of porn?

Practical help

No one ever wants to hear "I told you so!" but all of us need to hear it sooner or later.

God's word, the Bible, is full of really wise and useful commands and advice. It also contains many stories of those who listened to them and those who didn't.

Has a porn habit got you dwelling in the darkness of a dimly lit room behind a closed door? Do you feel like you're a prisoner to the habit. Do you feel chained to mouse, always needing to click to the next porn site?

The sex drive is a really strong force  -- but it's not stronger than the ability God gives you to handle it as the precious gift it is. That handling can bring you joy and make God proud, but it's not always simple. In fact, you'll probably need to read the instructions -- the Bible. (Start by reading 1 Corinthians 6.)
