Practical help

As any self-respecting gardener will tell you, a plant lives or dies by its root system. It's interesting how the botanical world can give you such a rudimentary (pun intended) look at life principles.

Your tendencies to do one thing or another will largely depend on your root system and the "soil" in which it's planted.

If you've trusted Jesus Christ (click here if you're not sure) then you've been given a brand new set of roots — grafted into the family of God, so to speak. Even with this new root system, God expects you to tend the garden. If you forget to water, things start to wither. If you forget to fertilize, growth is stunted. If you forget the pesticide, pests take their toll.

Could be porn is one of those pests hacking at the leaves of your life? If it is and you're wondering what to do about it, then wonder no more. God's word — the Bible — is all of these: ever-flowing water, rich eternally fertilized soil and a pesticide against any pest — even porn. Take Paul's advice on "life gardening 101": Continue to live in [Christ], and you'll be rooted and built up. Ready for anything.
