Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

Passage: Matthew 11:28-30*

28. "Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.

29. "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

30. "For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

Questions

1. A "yoke" is a wooden connector used to tie two oxen or other farm animals together side-by-side in order to hitch them to a plow. What is Jesus trying to say in verse 29 with this illustration?

2. Is it possible to be yoked to Jesus in a way that gives you rest and play with pornography?

Practical help

Unlike a laboring animal who receives the yoke without asking for it, you and I have the choice whether or not to put ourselves into a working relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I don’t think it is possible to surf for smut and labor with Christ at the same time.

"Gentleness" (verse 29 above) in the context of a yoke indicates that when placed into service, the animal is not dangerous to those nearby. And "humility in heart" reveals that the one who is serving desires to follow directions. This is quite different from this culture’s popular idea that we should seek to act independent of all outside influences.

Today, put on the invisible yoke that ties you to a relationship with Jesus Christ. When you are tempted to stray into porn web sites, remember that God has you surrounded. He is at your side pulling with you and He is behind you holding the reigns and directing your course. If you don’t have a relationship with Christ and would like to know more, click here.
