Welcome
to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand
strong in the face of sexual temptation.
eXXit advertises itself as a web site designed to help you "stand strong
in the face of sexual temptation." In Galatians 5:22-23, the apostle
Paul lists nine "fruit of the Spirit," fruit that the Holy Spirit
produces in the life of the believer. Each of these fruits - if produced
- will greatly aid a believer who seeks to "stand strong".
At eXXit, we believe:
that the fruit of the Spirit is produced in the life of a healthy
Christian, just as apples appear on a healthy apple tree;
that if there is any love or joy or peace in a Christian, it is
ultimately the work of God;
that Christians can cooperate with the Spirit's desire to produce His
fruit in their lives by yieldedness, faith, obedience and involvement in
ministry.
We hope you enjoy and benefit from the next month and a half's
meditations on Galatians 5! Send us any feedback. We'd love to know
what you think.
Passage:
Psalm 119:165-168*
165. Great peace have they who love your law, and nothing can make them
stumble.
166. I wait your salvation, O Lord, and I follow your commands.
167. I obey your statutes, for I love them greatly.
168. I obey your precepts and your statutes, for all my ways are known
to you.
Questions
1. Who is the writer talking to?
2. According to the writer, what is the main ingredient for peace?
Practical
help
How hard is it to really be at peace with yourself? No one knows our
shortcomings and flaws better than us. Isn't that right? Not according to
this passage. In fact God knows us completely, and yet He gives us peace,
which we can recognize and embrace through obedience to His statutes.
The reason that we can obey God's statutes is love. We love His statutes
because they are made for our good. They are given to us in love and when
we receive them in the same attitude, we all win.
