temptation.
Passage: 1 Corinthians 6:13*
"Food for the stomach and the stomach for food" — but God will destroy them both. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
Questions
1. How is your body "for the Lord"?
2. In what ways should that truth affect us?
Practical help
About 10 years ago, I restored a 1974 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia — with a generous assist from a mechanic named Lonie. Time after time, I'd run into a problem, and Lonie would solve it with a tool perfectly suited to the task. By the time we finished the car, I had learned a new axiom: The right tool can make an impossible job easy.
That principle also applies to human beings. God designed the tools of our bodies for sexual righteousness, not for sexual immorality. And when we operate outside of our specifications, the job of living can become impossible.
Tangled up in Web porn, we no longer "work." Guilt clogs our functions. Risky behavior pushes us to the red line. And relational breakdowns become commonplace.
In 1 Corinthians 6:13, the apostle Paul reminds us of a better way. God designed us for sexual glory, not sexual shame. Live from that faithful blueprint, and see if the job of living doesn't get easier.
