Welcome
to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual
temptation.
Passage: Proverbs 28:13*
He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper,
But he who confesses and forsakes them will find compassion.
Questions
1. What can you count on if you confess your struggle with sexual sin if your intention is to leave it behind?
2. What happens to the one who continues to hide his sin?
3. What does it mean to not prosper in this case?
Practical help
Are you experiencing decline in your life because of an unconfused and hidden lifestyle of porn use? The truth is that the decline will continue until you stop hiding your sin. It’s a natural result of living a lie. What are the areas in which you can see the greatest negative impact of porn? Is it in your close relationships, your spiritual life, your finances, your physical or emotional well being?
We’re talking about authentic living here — about living in integrity before God and others with a clean conscience. A clean conscience is the result of coming clean on a regular basis. It’s the idea of keeping short accounts with God about our struggles and our sins. If we sin, we confess it and forsake it. Maybe that has to happen several times each day for a particular kind of temptation like lust or sexual fantasy. The Lord’s compassion and grace abound and we’re strengthened each time we draw close to Him for confession and help.
