Welcome
to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand
strong in the face of sexual temptation.
eXXit
advertises itself as a Web site designed to help you
"stand strong in the face of sexual temptation." In
Galatians 5:22-23, the apostle Paul lists nine "fruit
of the Spirit," fruit that the Holy Spirit produces in
the life of the believer. Each of these fruits
if produced will greatly aid a believer who
seeks to "stand strong."
At
eXXit, we believe that:
The
fruit of the Spirit is produced in the life of a
healthy Christian, just as apples appear on a
healthy apple tree.
If
there is any love or joy or peace in a Christian,
it is ultimately the work of God.
Christians
can cooperate with the Spirit's desire to produce
His fruit in their lives by yieldedness, faith,
obedience and involvement in
ministry.
We
hope you enjoy and benefit from these meditations on
Galatians 5! Send us any feedback. We'd love to know
what you think.
Passage:
Psalm 40:
1-3*
1. I waited patiently for
the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry.
2. He lifted me out of the slimy
pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
3. He put a new song in my
mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and
fear and put their trust in the Lord.
Questions
1. Is patience something
that you come by easily?
2. According to this passage,
what are at least three results that come from
patience?
3. Are there areas in your life
where patiently waiting for the Lord would be
helpful?
Practical
help
Is patience something that
you wish you already had, but are too busy to wait
for?
Scripture tells us that a fruit
of the Spirit is patience, and that everyone can have
this fruit if they follow Christ.
What good is patience? Sometimes
we need to wait for God, and then we can better
appreciate the blessings he so richly gives us. Like
the psalmist, patiently waiting for the Lord will get
us out of the muck and mire of sinfulness and give us
a new footing.
Instead of singing gloom and
doom, we can belt out a great tune about how God has
given us a solid platform for a wonderful
life.
