Welcome
to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand
strong in the face of sexual temptation.
Passage:
1 Timothy 5:24*
The sins of some men are
obvious, reaching the place of judgment ahead of them;
the sins of others trail behind them.
Questions
1. What does this verse
mean?
2. How might it apply to Web
porn?
Practical
help
President Nixon lied about
the Watergate break in, and it caught up with him.
President Clinton lied about sex with an intern, and
it caught up with him. These sins fit the apostle
Paul's category of those that "trail behind." They
became obvious only later.
Web porn falls into this same
category. At first, we can convince ourselves that our
habit is purely personal. An unobvious sin. But porn
has a way of slipping through our barriers.
If people ask us about it, we
may lie to them, compounding the first error with a
second. If we digest too much porn, we may find
ourselves numb to godly expressions of sexuality.
Ultimately, the lust for the experiences we've seen
depicted on our monitors may push us to act them out
with a non-spouse or a prostitute.
Scripture offers this caution to
the sexually curious: The sins of Web porn may trail
behind, but they will eventually elicit
judgment.
