The Fourth of July is one
of the United States most revered holidays. We
celebrate our independence and our various freedoms on
July 4th.
The theme of freedom is a major
biblical theme, too.
God intends that people live
free. He is opposed to oppressive regimes, as
witnessed by the wisdom literature of Proverbs and the
prophetic warnings of the Old Testament against
unrighteous rulers.
However, so much of the
Bibles teaching about freedom is about the
spiritual freedom a person can know by entering into a
trusting relationship with Jesus Christ. Regardless of
the political realities of a persons life, a
transcendent relationship with God brings
freedom.
Through Christ, God offers
freedom from the penalty of sin, which would be an
eternity spent in a place separate from God which the
Bible calls Hell. God offers freedom from the power of
sin in our lives. And, He offers a freedom of spirit
that allows us to experience unfettered
joy.
If you have never entered into a
trusting relationship with Jesus and have not yet come
to know the freedom that the Son of God will give you
when you do, please click
here and enter a
world of liberty!
