Passage: Ephesians 5:1-2*

1. Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children;

2. and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.

1. According to verse one, what is your standing with God?

 

2. Instead of walking in pornography, how are we encouraged to walk in verse two? Consider where the two paths would take you in life.

 

Practical help

To be like God often seems to be so impossible as to not be worth attempting. This is frankly true in all religions except Christianity. How can I say this? Because Christianity accepts that fact that God had to come to us first and save us. Paul, who penned the passage above, puts it this way in Colossians 1:26-27. This is his explanation to this church on what he was called to proclaim to them.

26. …the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages and generations, but has now been manifested to His saints,

27. to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

When you accept Christ as your Savior, trusting in His sacrifice on the cross for you, He joins you in your struggles. You become spiritually connected to Him in a way that can be described as a new birth (John 3:3). You become a new creation (Galatians 6:15). With this transformation comes the ability to walk away from old controlling habits.
