Practical help
If the Christian life sounds like a long haul of unmitigated self-denial, have we got news for you: That's Buddhism, not Christianity.
Buddhism is the religion of total denial. Good things, bad things, it doesn't matter. The Buddha said they've got to go, so self-denial is the only way to go.
Christianity takes a different tack. God wants us to deny the bad things — such as pornography — but pursue the good things. Deuteronomy 27:7 pushes this dualism a step farther. Not only should believers sacrifice themselves to avoid evil, we should celebrate the act of sacrifice. That's why God tells the Israelites to turn what could be a gloomy event into a feast.
Apply this truth to pornography. Vow today to avoid this evil with everything you've got. Then make dinner reservations. Steak, anyone?
