Title: The Hub of Your Life in Christ (the Wheel, Part 1)
Keywords: "Christ” “hub” “wheel”
Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

This is the first part in a six-part series on the “Wheel Illustration” (link to a picture of the Wheel can be found later in this study). The Wheel depicts how Christians can experience the full life Jesus promised to his followers in John 10:10 (“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”). For folks struggling with Internet porn, the illustration shows one more thing: how to give the slip to smut. This study looks at the wheel’s hub.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Questions

1. List three things that are true for all Christians (see 2 Corinthians 5:17).

2. Where does Christ live (see Galatians 2:20)

Practical help

Christians struggling with Web smut may wrestle with something else at the same time. Namely, the apparent contradiction between their new life as believers (2 Corinthians 5:17) and their old (but ongoing) porn habit. Some Christians erroneously despair that they’re not believers at all because of porn’s persistent hold on their thoughts and actions.

“Erroneously” because, as Galatians 2:20 asserts, Christ does live in them — at the very center of their being. Trusting this claim (versus relying on human power alone) leads to victory over smut (see 1 John 5:4-5). This inevitable victory is the hope — the hub — around which the lives of Christians securely turn, even on bumpy, treacherous roads.

Have you lost hope in your struggle with porn? Or do you believe the Scriptures, which promise eventual victory to all who trust in his power?

Stand strong in your faith in the Scriptures and Christ. That is how, sooner or later, you’ll stand strong against porn.
