Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

Passage: Matthew 18:19*

Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.

Questions

1. Can we take this verse seriously?

2. How can it help us fight the temptation of Web porn?

Practical help

How much do you want to rid yourself of Web porn? Enough to enlist the support of another Christian?

Your answer to that second question reveals a great deal about your spiritual state. If you have a problem but aren't willing to share it with another believer, that indicates one of two things: 1) You don't know another believer you can trust. (So you need to find one.) Or 2) You can't tell your brother about your problem because of pride. (So you need to get over that.)

Matthew 18:19 hits both problems head-on. Jesus assumes you know another Christian that you can trust. You do, don't you? He also expects you to pray together about deep matters. You do, don't you?

Jesus also assures us that the Father will bring about the things we request. His answer may not be immediate and it may not be total; we're still human, after all. But he promises to act, and God keeps his promises. Perhaps the reason we haven't seen more progress with Web porn is because we don't avail ourselves of the power of prayer partners.
