Passage: 2 Corinthians 4:18*
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
Question
How can this truth free you from Web porn?
Practical help
Life, like TV, is a visual medium. Studies show that readers tend to internalize facts better than listeners. And some images — though seen only once — stay with us for a lifetime.
Pornography thrives on this principle. It's visual, entering through the eyes — and metastasizes in the brain.
The apostle Paul would shrug. True reality, he argued, was unseen. He ignored the images of this world and pondered the hereafter: a place without want, a place of life. Imagine that.
No really, imagine that. Dwell for a few moments on heaven, "our heavenly dwelling" (2 Corinthians 5:2).
You have just zeroed in on reality. Pornography is temporal. Celluloid and video tape and monitors will turn to dust. X-rated actors and actresses will wither away and die. As you will die.
But heaven will remain. Stay focused on your true home, and you will see eternity.
