Practical help
The church needs a good PR agent. Christians so often come off as the
thou-shalt-not crowd: "Don't get drunk/have sex with a non-spouse/consume
pornography/etc." These prohibitions are all right and good. But as John
10:10 shows, the world can get a myopic view of the faith from such
one-sided portrayals. God can come off as a cosmic killjoy.
Jesus says he wants to give us life, a full-bodied alternative to the
twisted, dwarfish passions of this world. Sure, avoid pornography. But
imbibe life to its fullest. Reread Ecclesiastes and make a few applications.
Enjoy your work/sex with your spouse/food and drink to the nth degree. Jesus
saved us for abundance. Don't squander the cream of existence for the dross
of perversion.
