Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me shall live even if he dies,

Questions

1. Does Jesus challenge your perspective on life and death?

2. What is Jesus’ invitation in this verse?

3. What does He offer and why is it exactly what you need?

Practical help

No one can control death. No one can conquer it — not alone at least. No matter how much money someone spends, or how much they exercise, or how well they care for themselves, sooner or later everyone dies. You can’t stop it and it does no good to deny it. Only Jesus has conquered death and He alone can offer resurrection life.

Ephesians 2:6 says that the believer has already been raised with Jesus and is seated with Him in the heavenly places. That’s a factual and accurate picture of reality in the knowledge of what is already the possession of the Christian now and for all eternity. You didn’t earn it by being good. He just gave it to you out of His love for you when believed.

Pornography is a counterfeit source of life that distorts your sense of reality. It can’t give life, but instead yields despair. What Jesus gives to the believing one is resurrection life. Walking day by day in this reality changes us. Our attention is drawn away from the struggle to give ourselves to smut and is replaced by the knowledge of the truth of who Jesus is in us. If you are struggling today, remember this: Who Jesus is, is what you need.
