Passage:
Psalm
71:12-16*
12. God, do not be far
from me; O my God, hasten to my help!
13. Let those who are
adversaries of my soul be ashamed and consumed; Let
them be covered with reproach and dishonor, who seek
to injure me.
14. But as for me, I will hope
continually, And will praise Thee yet more and
more.
15. My mouth shall tell of Thy
righteousness, And of Thy salvation all day long; For
I do not know the sum of them.
16. I will come with the mighty
deeds of the Lord God; I will make mention of Thy
righteousness, Thine alone.
Questions
1. In the midst of his
fears the writer chooses to do what?
2. How important is your
attitude when it comes to having victory over your
problems?
Practical
help
When we discover that we
have been wronged, the first impulse is usually rage
and the desire for revenge. Because others have made
you suffer, isnt it fair that you should make
them suffer as well? But there is a problem we face
when we confront evil, and that is the risk that we
will respond in an ungodly way.
When you come to God and seek
your refuge in Him, the two of you are permanently
linked together. So it is now possible for you to drag
Gods name through the mud as you lash out on
others who have harmed you.
Instead, the writer gives the
better option. He asks God to deal with the wicked.
This, however, does not mean the writer becomes a
doormat. He chooses to release his emotions in a
positive way, by praising God and telling others where
they, too, can find a refuge.
Give people you know a positive
alternative to Internet pornography. Turn any
legitimate anger you may have into praising God and
working for His kingdom. Ask Him to intercede on your
behalf, and remember to give Him the credit. After
all, its His righteousness and not our own that
others need to see.
