Today's 3-Minute Bible Study follows on the heels of yesterday's study in the life of Joseph. Today, we will view only one verse. Read it carefully. Genesis 39:10* And it came about as she spoke to Joseph day after day, that he did not listen to her to lie beside her, or be with her. Resisting a "one-time" temptation is difficult, but do-able. Joseph stood strong against the initial temptation by THINKING about the damaging effects of saying "Yes" to her offer. However, she continued making sexual overtures to him. This is the day after day after day after day kind of temptation. Answer a couple of questions about repeated temptation: Is something MORE required of us if we are to successfully say "NO" time after time after time? Is daily, repeated temptation more difficult to resist than a one-time temptation? It seems that way. What is it about repeated temptations to sexual evil that makes it more difficult to resist than one-time temptation? Look at verse 10 (above) How did Joseph resist Potipher's wife's repeated invitations to sexual sin? He did not ______________ to her. He would not __________ beside her. He refused to be ___________ her. If we are going to resist the daily temptation of Internet porn or sexually explicit chat rooms on the Web, we need to follow Joseph's lead. Here is a no-brainer: Don't frequent Web sites that feature sexually explicit material! Don't go there! Don't see how close you can get to viewing pornography without making that final click. Instead, stay as far away from it as is possible. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The goal of standing firm against Internet porn is entirely within our grasp. Falling becomes more and more "inevitable" the closer we get to it. Be a Joseph.
