Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

Passage: 1 Timothy 4:7-8*

7. But have nothing to do with worldly fables fit only for old women. On the other hand, discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness;

8. for bodily discipline is only of little profit, but godliness is profitable for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.

Questions

1. Put verse 7 into your own words. What do worldly fables have to do with disciplining your self for the purpose of godliness?

2. What is godliness and what good is trying to attain it?

Practical help

Godliness is not bestowed on us. We can ask for and receive eternal life, but our character must be changed through a daily regimen of resisting evil (1 Corinthians 6:18-19), doing good (Galatians 6:10) and learning more about life from God’s perspective through studying His word (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Don’t buy into fables about how pornography is not all that bad. It will keep you from what you most want to be deep in your heart. Walking toward purity isn’t easy, but it’s worth it in the end. Hang in there. We’re cheering for you.
