Welcome
to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand
strong in the face of sexual temptation.
Passage:
2 Timothy
1:13-14*
13. Retain the standard of
sound words which you have heard from me, in the faith
and love which are in Christ Jesus.
14. Guard, through the Holy
Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure which has been
entrusted to you.
Question
The apostle Paul is
instructing young Timothy on how to live. How would
you put the instructions in your own words?
Practical
help
If, when you look at the
Bible, it doesnt make sense to you, then you
cant say you are understanding "sound words." If
this is the case, you need help. Find a mature
Christian or pastor, and begin asking questions.
Meantime, you can click
here for more information.
If you do understand the story
of salvation and know that Paul wrote a number of
letters of which his second letter to Timothy is one,
then you have access to "sound words." But its
not enough to understand sound words in your head
only. You need to take them to your heart. Faith and
love are "heart" things. When you understand how Jesus
died on a cross for you, then you are in the realm of
faith and love. They make the sounds words even more
special like a treasure, in fact. The greatest
treasure you will ever discover.
As verse 14 above says, all
believers have the gift of the Holy Spirit dwelling
within them. He will continually remind them that
their hearts have been made alive when once they was
dead.
What does this have to do with
pornography? Frankly, sound words are the antidote.
Pornography promises fun and thrills but leaves you
with guilt and shame. Seeking the truth of sound words
can lead you into real life. Which way to go is always
left to you. Choose wisely.
