Welcome
to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand
strong in the face of sexual temptation.
Passage:
James 1:13-14*
13. Let no one say when he
is tempted, "I am being tempted by God"; for God
cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not
tempt anyone.
14. But each one is tempted when
he is carried away and enticed by his own
lust.
Questions
1. What does verse 13 say
to you about the nature of God?
2. If temptation doesn't come
from God (see verse 13), where does it come from (see
verse 14)?
3. According to verse 14, what
power might lust exert over someone?
Practical
help
God is good! He is not the
kind of a God who will tempt you to sin to see if you
can resist. He will have nothing to do with sin
Himself and doesn't put temptation to sin before
you.
God gave to each person a sexual
nature and sexual desire. However, "lust" is the
desire for something that is forbidden. "Lust" is what
is aroused when we view pornography.
When tempted to view pornography
on the Web, remember that the urge is not coming from
God (He doesn't tempt anyone). The temptation is
actually a twisting of a legitimate desire for sex
that God placed in you. Be thankful to God for your
sex drive, but recognize that pornography turns love
into lust.
