Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

Passage: Psalm 36:2*

For in his own eyes [the wicked man] flatters himself too much to detect or hate his sin.

Questions

1. What does the writer of this psalm condemn in the wicked man?

2. Do these failings also describe your view of Web porn?

Practical help

Though the rise in Christian psychology has helped many deal with the problems of the modern world, some practitioners bow to Freud more than God. Example: the idea of hate.

Some psychologists want us to root out all forms of hate, claiming such negative thoughts damage our spiritual lives. God takes an alternate view: We should hate what is evil. A spiritually healthy list of hates should include Web porn. We should not only "detect" its insidious influence on our lives, but also "hate" what it does to us and our loved ones. If we don't hate Web porn, we look more like the wicked than the righteous — an alarming portrait.

How can we align our views to the mind of Christ? Immerse ourselves in the Bible. As God's Word penetrates our lives, our tastes will start to line up with the Lord's. We'll know it when we feel the hate.
