Passage: Psalm 16:1-6*

1. Preserve me, O God, for I take refuge in Thee.

2. I said to the Lord, "Thou art my Lord; I have no good besides Thee."

3. As for the saints who are in the earth, they are the majestic ones in whom is all my delight.

4. The sorrows of those who have bartered for another god will be multiplied; I shall not pour out their drink offerings of blood, nor shall I take their names upon my lips.

5. The Lord is the portion of my inheritance and my cup; Thou dost support my lot.

6. The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; indeed, my heritage is beautiful to me.

Questions

1. Think about the word "inheritance" (verse 5). What comes to your mind?

2. The "cup" holds a liquid like water or wine. Recall how it is used in Psalm 23.

3. The "lines" in verse 6 refers to boundary lines. Rewrite this verse in your own words. What is the writer saying?

Practical help

David has set his boundaries. He sees what it is like to live within a designated area laid out by God, and he is content.

What about you? As you look at your life, are you content and satisfied? Is your heritage beautiful, or is it filled with waste and garbage?

Step across the line from Internet pornography, and trust the Lord for your inheritance. You won’t regret it.
