Passage: Psalm 25:7*

Remember not the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways.

Question

How can we apply this verse to our struggles against pornography?

Practical help

A new nonfiction book about a deadly Chicago heat wave makes an interesting argument: States of mind matter. Various people groups endured the same temperatures, but the people who tended to be lonely — who weren't plugged into their communities — died at a faster rate.

The psalmist David makes a similar point. He knew wrong attitudes could waste the body and soul. So he takes time to ask God for forgiveness of his sins. He knew that past unconfessed sin — say, acting on lustful impulses — clouds a relationship with God. So he laid it out straight: "Remember not the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways."

Follow David's example. Before you start your day, assess your state of mind. Has porn polluted your relationship with God? If so, follow the psalmist in asking for forgiveness.
