Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

For the next couple of three-minute Bible studies, we'll look at false promises — and slippery slopes into slavery.

Passage: 2 Peter 2:19 (New International Version*)

They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity — for a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him.

Questions

1. How might you relate this verse to the pornography industry (Internet or otherwise)?

2. Do you think that an industry that promises freedom to engage in sexual fantasies actually delivers freedom — or slavery?

3. What long-term results do most pornography peddlers seek when you visit their web sites?

Practical help

Fishermen spend a lot of time making lures that look like free meals to trout. The more enticing the lure, the better the chances for a bite.

We have an advantage over fish. God alerts us when something — like web porn — is trying to hook us. By His Grace, he even helps us pull the hook out if we bit it anyway.

If you've been hooked by pornography, turn to God. He'll get you off the hook.
